"That's it." Dr. DisRespect has spent a lot of his time, as Twitch's darling. but even at the height of his success he’s been the target of heavy scrutiny.
In the same way that he acts as a mirror image of the archetypical gamer, he’s also a symbol of some of gaming’s most criticized characteristics. His on-stream personality is hyper-masculine in nature, he’s been criticized for being racially insensitive on multiple occasions and called offensive on countless others. It’s often hard to get a read on The Doc, but despite his persona’s brash nature, he’s not devoid of flashes of empathy, kindness and the familial community-building we see from many top streamers. "I've realized that I've provided an outlet for a lot of people that are dealing with a lot of hardships. And, it makes me proud." As 2018 began, more than a month had passed since the Doctor's last stream and the Twitch’s hero was nowhere to be found http://butteryspreads.org/state-of-ios-gaming-in-2019/. Late January brought signs of Doc’s return and rumblings around social media and small YouTube teaser marked his return for early February. "Ladies and gentlemen, the Doc is coming back." And then on Feb. 5, 2018 — DrDisrespect returned. "I haven't played in a long time, I literally just woke up out of the water bed. press the start streaming button, and here we are." And he broke Twitch right in half, setting a new mark for concurrent viewership on an individual’s Twitch channel at 388,000 viewers. "You're looking at the Face of Twitch. And ladies and gentlemen the arena is wide open!" (Stream) During that hallowed February, the Doc was at full capacity, Guy Beahm was a thing of the past. He had gimmicks, he had flash and it was all on level 100. He averaged a career high of more than 50,000 viewers at a time. Since then he’s stayed steady around 20-25k. DrDisrespect has become an integral part of the modern day Twitch ecosystem. He’s joined the likes of Shroud and Chad who’ve stayed loyal to PUBG while the mainstream has shifted gears to Fortnite. "I don't necessarily play it all the time I just haven't gotten into it enough yet but, "I'd hate to play a guy who's as good as me, or as equal as me. And he has the same weapon as me but guess what he has the gold weapon." He’s a moniker for the old-guard of the video game world, and his loyalty and consistency has produced a massive following. "You know I get excited when the Doc looks like he's ready to actually murder somebody." (Stream) His fame, impressive aim, ups and downs aside. One thing that’s under-appreciated about DrDisrespect is his ability to juggle two personalities day in and day out. To his own admission, Guy Beahm and Dr Disrespect don’t share many personality traits. Guy is very literally morphing into the doctor when he goes live on Twitch every day. "Do you have a difficulty transitioning between yourself and the Doc. Cause you're in character for so long." "And for so intense amount of time." "Do you have trouble being like, okay now I'm just a guy, literally Guy" "No, no we shut it down, we approach it as a business." When we tune into his stream every day, we are witnessing an impressively long piece of performance art. That webcam flicks on, and it’s you and the screen and you better be entertaining, (Stream) good at your game of choice (Stream) and handle it all with calm and collected. (Stream) At first glance DrDisrespect looks wild — just an aberration within the normal tame world of Twitch. "Ladies and gentlemen trickle in." (Stream) Thanks for watching. And they want to make sure you got that grass into the wash house, but if it was late, the guys going to get mad, because you didn't pick it up right away. When working in the grass, the wind was blowing up the peat dust. You couldn't see your hand in front of your face. I wore two pairs of pants, three shirts, a bandanna over my head, and (a) scarf.
And goggles. Yeah, goggles. And you had to tie your shoe strings around your shoes, because if the peat dirt would get up into your pant leg, you're going to itch like crazy when you sweat. After you finished work in the fields and get into the bunkhouse, you'd have to sweep down the bunkhouse. So you'd get all that dust outta there. That was miserable. There are very racist arguments that farmers make about Filipinos do (doing) this work, because they're (Filipinos were) shorter, and therefore they're closer to the ground. But I'd like to think that, you know, the ways that workers were organized in terms of home towns and in terms of provinces and the relationships that these men had with each other and the obligations that they had to each other, (they) really contributed to the efficiency they had in their work. And they had a reputation for being extremely skilled workers. For picking 100 pounds of asparagus picked (in) a day, Filipino workers received just 90 cents, less than half the amount paid to their white counterparts check this website. This hard-earned cash was often sent to waiting parents and family members back in the Philippines. Filipinos and Filipinas, come to the United States with the intent of bringing their family out of poverty. And their American colonial teachers tell them that they're going to come to the United States, that this is such a land of opportunity, that they're going to pick up gold up off of the streets, and the irony is that Little Manila is centered around El Dorado street. They're going to return in a few months as these extremely, wealthy men, who are coming back to save their families and bring their provinces and their barrios out of poverty. And that doesn't necessarily happen. The early groups of Filipinos who arrived in Stockton were mostly young single bachelors eager to liven up Little Manila and ready to show some style. But who were these guys who arrived in America? And, this is not my imagination, they arrived, you know. You would think they were movie stars, seriously. The way they dressed. The way they smiled and ...their mustaches. They really prided themselves in the way they looked, and that was combing their hair, making that straight line down the center or the side of their scalp just so they would look dashing. The Filipino men dressed... whether they were from Chicago, New York, Seattle...they all dressed the way they dressed in Stockton. They all were flashy. They wore suits that were just unbelievable. They would never go into a store and buy a $20 suit and hit the streets. These guys came out looking like movie actors. And yet they were common laborers working in the agricultural industry. Pinoys, as Filipinos are sometimes called, sought out the American dream in new cars, gambling dens, and dance hall girls. You also have stories of Filipinos with the best intentions of saving money end up losing all their money in the gambling halls or in the taxi dance halls, (or) on clothes and on cars. And one of the things you have to remember is that when these young men and women are coming to the United States, they're in their late teens, (or) they're in the early 20's. This is the first money they're ever earning in their entire lives. And this is also, you know, the birth of the consumer culture in the United States. My father opened the Rizal Social Club. Now they had someplace to go. Few people know when they take the cross-town freeway through Stockton, California, they're passing through the remnants of a once-bustling community. All roads in America, with Filipinos, led to Stockton. It was home to the largest Filipino population outside of the Philippines, a neighborhood whose little-known history was integral to the development of Central California. Filipinos had garages, cafes, restaurants, and laundries. There were just so many businesses that you as a Filipino could frequent, because they had the things that you needed. Like many immigrants before them, Filipinos faced backbreaking work, low wages, and at times, extreme racism.
Yet they still referred to Stockton as El Dorado or the City of Gold and (they) sought this place to fulfill their dreams. When the Philippines became a territory of the U.S. in 1898, Filipinos could freely enter the country. Recruited by the thousands as cheap labor to work the Hawaiian sugar plantations, they quickly began to migrate to the U.S. mainland. So Filipinos basically were not occupying the upper levels of the socioeconomic sectors. They weren't the high-end workers. They were agricultural workers (or) domestic service workers which is what the economy needed at that time. Following the seasons, they traveled up and down the West Coast harvesting crops from California to Washington and working the fishing canneries in Alaska during the winter season. Stockton provided a hub where Filipinos could always return. Filipinos arrived in Stockton mainly because they were recruited to Stockton. Stockton was the center of agricultural activity in the central valley of California. And of course, many labor contractors that were responsible for hiring Filipinos attracted them specifically to Stockton. Little Manila at its height was a lively four-block area pocketed next to Chinatown and Japantown. To some Stocktonians, this area south of Main Street was the notorious skid row. For Filipinos however, it was the closest thing they had to a hometown. From the late 19th century on it was known as the oriental quarter. And this is where Chinatown was, and as Japanese immigrants start to come into the central valley, into Stockton, that started establishing Nihon Macchi nearby. And this was anywhere from six to ten block area south of Main Street, and when Filipinos come to the United States, they find (found) that the only places that will welcome them are the people of the oriental quarter. It's an extremely diverse neighborhood. From the outside, though, most white Stocktonians just kind of generalize the area as Chinatown. My dad came from Loboc, Bohol in the Philippines. People told him to go to California to a place called Stockton because there were a lot of Filipinos there. So we came down by train, and they brought us up and dropped us off at the Lincoln hotel. And I looked out the window onto Main Street, and I could see so (many) Filipinos in my life! From Main Street to Lafayette Street you could see and smell all kinds of food in that town: Filipino, Chinese, Japanese.... They were making biko there. Lafayette and El Dorado Streets becomes this cross roads of not just Filipino community in Stockton, but in a sense, the Filipino community on the west coast. If you were looking for your cousin and you've recently arrived, you would come to El Dorado Street, because you knew there were thousands of Filipinos, especially during asparagus season, lining the streets. In Stockton Filipino workers in particular became synonymous with asparagus cutting, considered one of the toughest crops to harvest. The hardest work that I ever done (did) was asparagus. You had to get the asparagus out of the field, because during the hot days that sun would soak up the liquid in the grass, the asparagus. We called (asparagus) grass in those days. And if you got it to the wash house, (you'd) dry it,(since) they weighed it, see, (and) you get paid by the weight. The questions remain though, how did this claw get under the mountain? Why was it so perfectly preserved despite other bones not getting the same treatment? And can you imagine if they had found a fully alive Moa in that mountain?
Pretty exciting stuff!! 6. Altamura Man While certain finds can be scary, they can also be fascinating in the historical sense, and one such grand case is the Altamura Man. A cave scientist (yeah, that's a thing, I looked it up) was in Altamura, Italy doing some work, and while examining a particular structure, he turned to find a skeleton looking at him through the rock. A very human-looking skeleton in fact, and it's literally fused into the rock around it. This is the Altamura Man, but he's not exactly human, he's a Neanderthal, and in fact, he's the oldest Neanderthal ever found!! Now, if you're waiting for the feeling of terror to come back, here it is. The "rock" he was in...wasn't always a rock. It was actually once a sinkhole, one that Mr. Neanderthal fell into when he was having a bad day, and he was never able to get out. Because of that, he was literally consumed by it, to the extent that he because fused with the calcium deposits within the sinkhole, thus creating the sight that scientists found tens of thousands of years later. What a way to go, am I right? 5. Tortured Skulls No, that’s right, "Not tortured souls", "tortured skulls". In Sweden, in 2009, some archaeologists were excavating a dried up lake bed. Near the bottom of the lake they found a sealed structure, that's already pretty terrifying, but trust me, it gets worse. Within that stone structure were a set of 11 skulls. No, that's not the scary part just yet. What's odd is what happened to these skulls. Many of them were impaled, some of them were burnt to a crisp, and one of them was literally shoved inside another skull. Yeah, say what now? And it should be noted that these skulls were all by themselves, no bodies attached to them. So, how and why did the people who killed these people do this to their skulls? No one really knows, but it's definitely creepy to think about. 4. The Sewer Of Babies The ancient world did a lot of great and wondrous things. But, it also did a lot of terrible things, including facilitating the death of many young babies. Yet, one of the most disturbing finds ever might just be a sewer full of their corpses. In Ashkelon, Israel, a group of archaeologists were examining a bathhouse that was built by the Romans. Eventually, they made their way to the sewers underneath it. If you think sewers are a weird place to look for artifacts, you'd be surprised by how many incredible things are found down there!! Anyway, they started to notice as they explored that there were bones in it. But they were tiny. Upon finding tiny human skulls to go with them they realized, they were in a literal baby sewer. It's not known why the babies were thrown into this particular sewer, or why there were over 100 of them put into it. But it's safe to say that whoever did it did not do this by accident, and that's what makes it so terrifying. 3. Family Betrayal Sometimes the truly terrifying things we find aren't the remains of people, but the stories they leave behind. Yan Shiwei was a prominent member of Chinese society during his time and he loyally served the first female Emperor in Chinese history. As a military man he fought by her side through high times and rebellions, even breaking his own arm so that he couldn't rebel against his ruler. But then, his brother betrayed the family and the Emperor. As a punishment, the entire family was branded as "traitors" and killed. This story was revealed in a text found in the tomb of Yan Shiwei 1300 years later. Emperor Wu Zetian helped unify China but was only in power for 15 years. Mass executions were the norm and she got rid of supporters and her own family members if she had to. 2. Neanderthal Cannibalism Cannibalism is the act of a humanoid eating another humanoid. It was once widely felt to be a tribal act, rooted in specific groups of people. Yet, Archaeology has taught us differently. This act goes all the way back to the Neanderthals. In fact, one find depicted a rather large family being eaten by another Neanderthal family. Caves in Goyet Belgium reveal human bones of adults and children showing signs of cuttin and fracturing to extract the marrow. This is kind of new information that Neanderthals ate each other, and it is not the first case of this happening. It could have been just for food or it could have had symbolic meaning but it’s hard to piece it together. 1. Death Whistles If you recognized this sound earlier, then you know it comes from an Aztec Death Whistle!! This was discovered when digging up an Aztec grave, where the deceased sacrificed man, was holding onto the Death Whistle! Now, if you're wondering what it sounds like, it's blood curdling, and it took years for any of the scientists to even know what it was, let alone blow on it. Speculation is that this whistle was used during human sacrifices to the gods. Or to terrify their enemies since it sounded like hundreds of people screaming their heads off. Thanks for watching! Hi, I'm Melissa Powell. And now we're going to go over the value of the hands. One of the important components of playing poker and if you don't know this, you're not going to be able to win the game. The highest most important hand you could possibly get in poker is called a straight royal flush. A very very rare hand, but the one you always want to definitely try to get.
This is the example of a straight royal flush. You'll notice all of the cards are of the same suit, they're all hearts. And they go from a ten to an Ace. The five highest cards you can possibly have in a suit. And they are also the royal flush which denotes that they have the high value face cards. This again is called the royal straight flush. The highest hand you can have in poker. The next highest hand you can have in poker is a straight flush. So the only component that's different, is that it's not a royal flush. But once again, all of the cards will be in order this website. And they will all be of the same suit. So they are all spades. They're in order, but they are not all royal. That's the next highest hand you can have in poker. The next highest hand you can have in poker is a four of a kind when you have four cards of the same number. So this is exactly what it looks like. So you'll have one card that doesn't necessarily fit it with any of your other cards. But the next four will all be the same number. Whether they're 5's, Queens, Tens, and Jacks. It doesn't make any difference. If they are all four the same number, that's called four of a kind. The next highest hand you can have in poker is called a full house. When all five cards together make what your house is called full, it?s when you have three cards of one kind, and two kinds of another. So for example, let's say you have three 4's and two Kings. That is called a full house. Doesn't make any difference if these were Kings and these were 4's, as long as you have three cards of one kind and two of another. Together this makes a full house. So those are the best hands you can get in poker. The highest are most definitely the ones you want to aim for. Now that you know that, let's move on to the more typical hands in poker that you'll see all the time, and that you've got to keep your eyes peeled out for. So let's look at those. The best exercise workout for you will depend upon what you are trying to accomplish, however the great news is that exercise balls also known as stability balls, swiss balls, etc. are a fantastic fitness tool suited to a wide range of exercises.
An exercise ball workout can provide enormous benefit because it forces your body to stabilize itself while performing whatever exercise ball workout you choose. For instance, if you’d like to target your arm muscles, instead of just using some boring biceps curls, sitting on an exercise ball or even leaning on one with your free arm will offer your body the opportunity to strengthen and tone a variety of muscles as a bonus, while you focus on your bicep curls or triceps exercises. Even with more challenging exercises such as squats and lunges, an exercise ball can add to the challenge, forcing you to improve your balance, focus, and core stability as you concentrate on your workout goals. While you will find exercise ball routines for various body parts, the best exercise ball workouts target the entire body, using the stability ball for all its worth. You can take best advantage of the exercise ball routines you perform by holding yourself firm and strong while performing individual reps. Move slowly and steadily, and keep your body both relaxed and taut (i.e. tight but still able to breathe deeply through your exercises) through the range of motion in each repetition. Move through your exercise ball workout with intense focus, working each body part and making a special effort to retain excellent posture and tight abdominals. After several weeks of performing an exercise ball routine rather than just your normal weight lifting workout, you should begin to notice a marked difference in your symmetry, strength, ease of performance and ability to balance. This is because you have been working not only individually targeted muscles but all surrounding secondary muscles and tendons as well. Your overall strength will be improved, and you’ll have the added benefit of helping to stave off osteoporosis as you help your muscle connections to your bones strengthen, along with the individual bones themselves.
